

O’Connor &lifier Affiliates, a Houston property tax talking to firm charged with filing protests for 1000's of citizens without their consent, has settled a suit through the condition Attorney General’s Office for $800Thousand, based on a tale within the Houston Chronicle today. The organization also decided to pay $300Thousand in restitution to taxpaying clients who stated these were overcharged for that company’s questionable services.
While O’Connor &lifier Affiliates accepted no wrongdoing within the settlement, Pat O’Connor, company leader, told the Chronicle, "Like every other business, we've made some mistakes. It has assisted us review our polices making some positive changes."
The Lawyer General’s Office sued in '09 following a Harris County Evaluation Da observed the organization filing tax protests using the district and neglecting to appear at scheduled proceedings. Bernardo Garcia, deputy general counsel for that district, stated home owners who'd not given approval for protest filed on their own account accused the district of dealing with O’Connor &lifier Affiliates to drum up business.
"There exists a duty to report dishonest behavior, ” Garcia stated. "Property proprietors were visiting us and accusing not only HCAD but other evaluation districts for O'Connor's weak points. They thought i was in cahoots together.Inches
